A beacon of hope for vulnerable children in Rukiga and Kabale districts, providing quality education and comprehensive care since 2006.

Muhanga Needy and Orphan project is located in Muhanga Village, Muhanga Ward, Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga District. We are a registered community-based Non Profit organization operating in Rukiga and Kabale districts, serving children aged 3 to 17 years from vulnerable and orphaned backgrounds.

Quality Education

Registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports with an EMIS number. Primary seven candidates take national UNEB examinations at our school, ensuring recognized qualifications.

Holistic Care

Beyond academics, we provide protection, life skills training, moral education, and discipline to prepare children and the community for self-reliance and a brighter future as responsible Ugandan citizens

Community Impact

Supporting orphans, vulnerable children and community people from poor families, many affected by HIV/AIDS epidemic disease. Our work extends beyond education to community health and empowerment.

Our Story

Muhanga Needy and Orphans Project was established in 2006 alongside Muhanga Modern primary school to address the urgent needs of vulnerable children in our communities. The HIV/AIDS epidemic left many children orphaned, without proper care or access to education.

We began with mobilization and sensitization campaigns to educate communities about the dangers of HIV/AIDS and prevention strategies. At the same time, we created a safe haven where children could receive quality education regardless of their family's financial situation.

Our students learn in a mix of wooden temporary classrooms and incomplete permanent structures, but their determination and the dedication of our teachers, non-teaching staff, and stakeholders have overcome these challenges. Through hardships and perseverance, some of our pioneer students have graduated from universities and are now working across Uganda in various fields, serving their country with pride.

Today, our current students continue to work hard, guided by caring educators who instill not just academic knowledge, but also the values and skills needed to become self-reliant, productive members of society.

Our Mission

To gather vulnerable children from poor families in different communities, providing them with quality education, protection, and comprehensive skills suitable for their age and level. We aim to teach morals and discipline expected of good Ugandan citizens, preparing them for self-reliance and a brighter future.

Our IMPACT

Through our work in education, health, agriculture, environmental conservation, palliative care, youth and women empowerment, climate change, and human rights, we create lasting positive change. Our graduates are proof that with proper support, vulnerable children can rise above their circumstances and contribute meaningfully to society.
